Spring Ivy Pull Day Is Saturday, April 18th

The City of Normandy Park is sponsoring a “Spring Ivy Pull Day” on Saturday, April 28th, from 10am to Noon at Marine View Park, which is located at 20900 Marine View Drive SW.

Here are the details:

WHEN: April 18th from 10am to Noon

WHERE: Marine View Park, 20900 Marine View Drive SW

INFO: Please join No Ivy Volunteers, Friends of Marine View Park and City Staff at our Spring Ivy Pull. Our goal is to restore native habitat by removing ivy from the trees and grounds of this park. Ivy spreads very quickly and chokes native plant life. Ivy harbors undesirable vermin, and has no natural enemies to keep it in check. Ivy climbs trees and once it reaches the top of the tree it blooms, broad casts seeds throughout the area, germinates and creates more ivy.

Come join your fellow citizens on April 18th to help keep our natural areas enjoyable and not just an ivy wasteland.

Things you may wish to bring include:

  • Small handsaws
  • Loppers
  • Long sleeve work clothes
  • Gloves
  • A sack lunch if you want

The City has a limited number of loppers and saws to lend if you need.

If you can’t make it this time, there will be another event October 17th 2009.

Contact Karl at 206 248-8265 for more information.
