Area Resident To Appear On Animal Planets’s “You Must Love Cats”

Story and Photo by Janet Grella

Earlier this week the we met up with the newest television star in the area. His name is Kramer and he hails from Normandy Park… and he’s a cat! Not just any cat. Kramer’s a one year old Pixiebob. We met him at Village Frame and Gallery after his daily walk at the Des Moines Marina with his Mom, Kay Doyle.

Kay’s been breeding Pixiebobs for 19 years. She specializes in breeding both long and short-haired Pixiebobs. He’s the short-haired variety. In fact, according to to his mom, he’s the number one Pixiebob Shorthair in the world. He’s earned this honor at cat shows from Canada to Southern California. He travels to shows once a month.

So what’s a grand champion cat got to do with television? Kramer will be one of the featured cats on Animal Planet’s new show premiering Saturday Feb 12 at 8pm. Here’s a preview of the show.

And, I guarantee you that you must love cats to watch it!

Kramer is not only a champion cat and part time television star, he spends two days a week as a therapy cat at local hospitals and nursing home. He’s been taught to purr on demand, which comforts patients and residents.

If you’d like, check out www.kaporkats.com to see some of Kramer’s relatives, and coming soon, his first batch of babies! Add ‘stud’ to all of Kramer’s other part-time duties in and outside of the Highline area, and you’ve got one busy cat!
