According to the latest City Manager’s Report (PDF file), staff and members of the Normandy Park City Council have recently been contacted by a Normandy Park resident hoping to see changes to local zoning regulations, which will allow small wind turbines to be placed in residential areas of the city.
The small wind turbines are approximately 3.5’ in diameter and can be pole or roof mounted. The wind turbine generates sufficient power to reduce electrical costs and, in some cases could generate surplus power.
The City Council will receive a presentation on small wind turbines at its May 10th regular meeting. Current zoning regulations do not permit wind turbines in residential areas.
