The City of Normandy Park announced Tuesday (Sept. 25) that it is accepting applications for two openings on the Board of Parks Commissioners.
The city “encourages all citizens to consider involving themselves actively in city government by serving on a City Board or Commission,” according to an announcement.
Applications for appointment are currently being accepted for two vacant positions with unexpired terms on the Board of Park Commissioners.
A full term on this Commission is for seven years.
The Parks Commission meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The seven member board was created to advise the City Council on matters regarding the expansion and operation of City parks and recreation programs. The Volunteer Park Commission members are appointed by the Mayor, with consent of the City Council, on the basis of their demonstrated interest in or their knowledge and support of the business of the City (NPMC 2.24).
Applications are available at city hall, on the city’s website www.normandyparkwa.gov, and will be emailed or mailed upon request by calling 206-248-7603. Applications are being accepted until October 31, 2012.
