Normandy Park Ale House opens with a packed house, great beer & food choices

by Judy Schwanke

Six weeks after announcing their ownership, Normandy Park Ale House has opened their doors to bring a new face to the Normandy Park Towne Center. Following a “soft launch” on Thursday, the team was ready to officially open their doors at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning (Aug. 8).

We had the privilege of arriving for the dinner hour – to a packed house. Waiting for a table didn’t take long; we were seated within 10 minutes at one of the booths that frame the restaurant. The atmosphere was lively, with classy/modern tones. Four flat screen TVs are strategically placed, which were airing the Little League Playoff games. Looking around, there were people of all ages: our table of four + grandbaby, tables with couples, tables with families, older men and women, as well as the table nearby with all women out for a fun evening. Our waitress was very friendly and stopped by to get our drink orders.

The menu is well-rounded – with drinks including red and white wines, cocktails, draft beers, and a chalkboard list of 9 rotating beers on tap. They have a nice variety of Starts & Shares, Salads, Sandwiches & Burgers, and Entrees. We started off with Crab Cake Sliders, which basically melted in your mouth.

With just the right amount of “heat” and flavor, they consisted of three handmade crab cakes on mini brioche buns with remoulade, crispy onion strings and Mama Lil’s peppers. I sincerely hope they plan on including these in their Happy Hour.

Our dinner plates arrived – and I have to say the hit of our table was what my husband ordered: Chicken Fig & Prosciutto Sandwich. So many great flavors combined to satisfy one’s palate, this grilled chicken breast, crispy prosciutto, fig jam, sundried tomato pesto, and greens on a ciabatta fit the bill. I ordered the Lamb Burger which was tender and tasty as well. The menu consists of better quality traditional pub food and has a great variety, including a children’s menu and dessert selections.
