Here are Normandy Park’s 4th of July activities

Monday, July 4th is just around the corner, and here are the fun local activities planned in Normandy Park, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.:

  • At 10:25 a.m. there will be a 2.8K Fun Run, which is only as competitive as you make it. It’s free, but all are urgently asked to pre-register using the attached form. The course is from Marvista Elementary to Marine View Drive & SW Normandy Terrace. Runners are asked to be sure to arrive at the starting area before 10:15 a.m. as number pick up will close at that time. This year’s custom designed race t-shirt can be ordered in advance by all runners for pick up at the finish line. Non-runners may purchase any left over shirts at the end of the race for $20.
  • At 10:30 a.m. the Children’s Parade leaves the Marvista parking lot. Everyone is welcome to join in, either from the start (be at Marvista no later than 10:15!) or from anywhere along the parade route, which ends at the Cove building. Classic cars, wagons, bicycles, strollers, marching bands – all are encouraged to participate. Paint your face, decorate your car or bike, get out your flags; be festive! Please, however, no campaigning or political signs. The Normandy Park Arts Commission will once again offer children prizes for the best deco- rated bicycles.
  • Once everyone arrives at the Cove after the parade (at approximately 11:15 a.m.) Free hot dogs, beverages and ice cream will be served. The field will be lined with the classic cars. We will have balloon animals and face painting! The NP Yeti Club will be sponsoring a small obstacle course for kids and adults that will run as individuals or relays, includes an inflatable obstacle too! All of this will be accompanied by live music on the lawn.
