Don’t miss ‘Quack Attack’ at Music in the Park at Marvista Park Sunday!

Quack Attack 1

All are invited to a very special ‘Music in the Park’ this Sunday, Aug. 14 at Marvista Park (19900 4th Ave SW) – Quack Attack!

This is a celebration of music, art, community and Normandy Park’s parks that kicks off at 1 p.m. with Just Bernie. He will serenade with all manner of tunes, and be followed up by the King County Library System sponsored “Magical Journey Down the River” by Elephant Umbrella. We will be taken on journey along the river and interact with a things natural and man made. Elephant Umbrella takes the stage at 2 p.m., and is a perfect kids show!

At around 3 p.m., Betsy Tinney will blend her magical cello and storytelling and bring us to magical lands. Betsy performed at the 2016 Arts Festival and was loved so much organizers wanted her to share her beautiful music with the community again.

Finish up the afternoon with Mighty Tiny, a trio (tuba, clarinet and drum) of gents with tunes from New Orleans jazz, ragtime, Bollywood, klezmer, and more and have been involved with the Seattle Famous HONK! Fest!

There will be more than just music at this one too, they’re also hosting a pop up art show, and a VERY special gallery will be dedicated to High 5 Arts summer artists who are at an awesome kids art camp this very week!

Our very own Normandy Park Parks Commission will be joining us with information about our local parks, restoration opportunities, and some exciting info about some of the birds that live in our area. The Parks Commission will also be sharing a really cool display about the recent rail car restoration at Walker Creek. Come by and meet some of the volunteers that made this project a reality!

NormHigh5Zombiefest folks will be there creeping around, Republic Services will be raffling off a bike, there will be a public ‘paint by numbers’ mural, coloring sheets, and Norman D. Park will be visiting and have some special prizes for kids who can answer some questions about our parks and environment. (Norm will be at the park from 1:00 to 2:00 and again from 4:00 to 6:00).  There will be free iced tea from Normandy Perk and free iced coffee from Starbucks while supplies last.
