Normandy Park is set to celebrate Independence Day with its annual July 4th parade and festival, and community members are invited to join the festivities by marching in the parade, enjoying live music and food at the Cove, or simply cheering from the sidelines.

Friends of Normandy Park Foundation (FONP) will take part in the parade and is calling for volunteers to walk alongside them. Participants are encouraged to meet at Marvista Elementary at 9:45 a.m., where they’ll help carry a banner, toss candy, and bring cheer to the route.

“I’ll be dressed as Uncle Sam!” said Susan West, organizer of the FONP Foundation. “We’ll also have a fun booth at the festival with over 200 free, festive giveaways.”

Following the parade, the celebration continues at the Cove, where visitors can enjoy free hot dogs and beverages, live music, and the FONP booth with a wide array of patriotic giveaways, including hats, sunglasses, crowns, pinwheels, bandanas, beads, and more.

The Fun Run kicks off at 10:25 a.m., immediately followed by the parade at 10:30 a.m., traveling along Marine View Drive SW from Marvista Elementary to the Cove. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs and find a good spot along the route.

In addition, West reported that the recent community yard sale at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on June 28 was a success, raising funds and bringing neighbors together.

“We raised great funds and met awesome community members,” she said.
