2025 City Goals – Progress Update

Each year, the City Council holds its Annual Retreat to set priorities for the year ahead. These goals guide our projects, programs, and community improvements. The team has been working hard to deliver on the 2025 City Goals, and we’re excited to share an update.

Goal 1 – Plan for City Hall
Our current City Hall building is aging, and the City Council wants to ensure it remains safe and efficient for years to come. An assessment has been completed, outlining recommended improvements. The good news is that with minimal investment, the current building will be able to serve our needs for a while. The Council will review options at its September Study Session.

Goal 2 – Local Road Safety Plan
Safety on our major roads is a top priority. The City is developing a Local Road Safety Plan, which will analyze roadway conditions and identify high-priority safety projects. The report is expected in September, after which we’ll begin budgeting and scheduling improvements.

Goal 3 – Community Engagement
We’re committed to connecting with residents and building a stronger community. One highlight of our efforts has been our quarterly Town Hall meetings. Join us for the next Town Hall on Wednesday, September 24, at 7:00 PM to share your thoughts with the City Council.

Goal 4 – Enhance Public Communication
Clear, timely communication helps keep our community informed. The Council is developing a communication plan to guide staff and exploring more ways to share information through video and other engaging formats.

Goal 5 – Emergency Management Planning
Preparedness is key. The City is updating its Comprehensive Emergency Preparedness Plan, with final approval anticipated by the end of the year.

Goal 6 – Legislative Advocacy
By collaborating with lawmakers and regional partners, we can more effectively represent Normandy Park’s interests. The City Council committed to strengthening our partnerships in 2025, which had a positive impact during the 2025 State Legislative Session. We’ll continue building on that momentum.

Goal 7 – Improve Recreational Facilities
We’re investing in our parks and recreational spaces. The basketball court at City Hall Park has been refreshed, and design work for Marvista Park improvements may begin this fall.

We’re excited about the progress made so far and look forward to the positive impact these goals will have on Normandy Park!
