Normandy Park City Manager’s Report for week ending Oct. 3, 2025
Help Shape the Future of Normandy Park’s Roads
Public Hearing on Updated Road Design Standards – Tuesday, October 14, 2025
The City of Normandy Park is updating its Road Design and Construction Standards. A guidebook that shapes how our streets, sidewalks, bike paths, and stormwater improvements are built. These standards ensure that when developers, contractors, or the City itself builds or renovates a road, the design is safe, consistent, and supports the needs of our community.
Why does this matter to you? These standards directly impact:
- Roadways – how lanes are designed to improve safety and traffic flow.
- Sidewalks – accessibility, width, and durability for all pedestrians.
- Street layouts – creating consistent and functional residential and commercial streets.
- Bike paths and trails – safer, better-connected options for cyclists and walkers.
- Planting strips and swales – landscaping that enhances neighborhoods and manages stormwater.
The City Council will consider adopting these updated standards by ordinance. Before any decision is made, we want to hear from residents.
Public Hearing Details
📅 Tuesday, October 14, 2025
🕖 7:00 p.m.
📍 Normandy Park City Hall or via Zoom
During the hearing, City staff will give a short presentation, and residents will then be invited to share comments. Whether you support, oppose, or have questions, your voice matters.
You have several options to make sure your feedback is heard:
- Attend in person – Come to City Hall on October 14 at 7:00 p.m.
- Attend virtually – Join the Council meeting via Zoom. You can “raise your hand” during the hearing to provide live comments.
- Submit written comments – Send your input to City Clerk Erin Smith by 4:00 p.m. on October 14. Comments may be delivered in person, by mail, or by email at esmith@normandyparkwa.gov.
Your input matters. Many hours of work have gone into updating these standards, but the most essential step is making sure they reflect what residents want for their community. From sidewalks to more welcoming neighborhood streets, your perspective helps guide the Council’s decision.
Please take a moment to review the proposed 2025 Road Design and Construction Standards and then share your thoughts. Together, we can make Normandy Park’s roads safer, greener, and better for everyone.
