A middle school-aged child was injured Monday morning, Dec. 1, 2025 after being struck by a vehicle near South 240th Street and 26th Place South in Des Moines, according to 911 dispatch reports.
The collision was reported at 6:58 a.m. Emergency responders arrived to find the child bleeding from the head. The child was initially reported unconscious but was later observed moving limbs, according to dispatch information.
Des Moines Police said officers responded at approximately 7 a.m. to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision in the area near Highline College.
Police said their investigation determined that neither speed nor impairment was a factor in the collision.
No criminal charges are pending at this time, according to the department.
The vehicle involved was described in dispatch information as a blue Nissan Pathfinder.
Police did not release additional details about the child’s condition or whether the driver remained on scene.
