An 18-year-old Normandy Park driver was killed Sunday night, Dec. 14, 2025 in a one car crash on SR 509 in Burien after the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree, then struck a building and another tree, the Washington State Patrol (WSP) said.
The crash happened Sunday night around 8:14 p.m. near South 160th Street, according to a WSP press memo.
Troopers said the vehicle was traveling southbound on SR 509 when it passed another vehicle on the right shoulder, lost control, struck a tree, then hit a building before spinning, hitting a second tree and coming to rest facing the wrong way on the shoulder.
WSP listed speed as the cause.
Sadly, the 18-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and troopers reported the seat belt was worn.
No other injuries were reported.
Drugs or alcohol involvement was listed as unknown.
