Residents are invited to explore Normandy Park’s green spaces this spring and summer during a series of guided plant walks focused on identifying medicinal and edible plants.

Jaime Van Doughty, a community herbalist and massage therapist, will lead the walks at Walker Creek Preserve and Nature Trails Park throughout 2026. Participants will learn to identify seasonal plants while exploring local habitats and wildlife.

“On the trail we will pause to identify medicinal and edible plants of the season bringing our senses to a fine focus while expanding our view of habitat and the synergy between plants, animals, people and so much more,” Van Doughty said in the event description.

The walks are designed to encourage participants to slow down and connect with nature. Van Doughty describes the outings as “an opportunity to slow, replenish and connect with the natural world where, in reciprocity, we are all deeply nourished.”
