Local residents are invited to safely dispose of household items at a residential recycling event on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center (map below).
The one-day event aims to reduce illegal dumping and promote proper waste disposal while accepting a wide range of materials—from electronics and tires to bulky wood and Styrofoam.
Processing fees apply to some items, and only cash payments with exact change will be accepted at the entrance.
Only residents arriving in passenger vehicles will be served. Walk-ins, flatbeds, and dump trucks will not be allowed.
Oversized, commercial, contaminated, or otherwise unacceptable loads may be refused. Organizers remind attendees to secure all loads, in accordance with state law.
This event is open to Burien, Normandy Park and King County residents.
In addition, rain barrels, compost bins, and worm bins will be available for purchase at $25 each while supplies last. These items are also cash-only.
Hazardous materials are not accepted at this event. Residents are reminded that products labeled Caution, Warning, Danger, or Poison should never be disposed of in the trash or down the drain. For information on hazardous waste disposal, click here or call (206) 296-4692.
