City Manager’s Report for
week ending Nov. 7, 2020

2021 City Legislative Priorities. The City of Normandy Park’s Legislative Agenda, like other city legislative agendas, identifies what Normandy Park can request from local, state and federal levels relating to Normandy Park’s strategic goals and budgetary priorities. During the 2021 legislative session, Washington’s 281 cities are asking the Legislature to take action on the following priorities, and more, and to partner with cities to meet the needs of city residents. The City of Normandy Park’s proposed 2021 legislative agenda reflects some of these legislative goals as indicated by the double asterisk on the draft. The Council will review this draft at the next regular City Council Meeting on November 10.

Planning Commission Meeting November 19. At the coming meeting, the Planning Commission will recommend regulations for Enhanced Services Facilities (ESFs). Also, the Commissioners will make a recommendation on the FEMA required amendment to Title 9 – Flood Hazard Areas. A public hearing for both items is scheduled and noticed for the regular meeting on November 19.

Planning Commission to Address Sign Code Amendments. The City of Normandy Park’s current sign code is inconsistent with current United States Supreme Court rulings. Proposed code amendments, as drafted by the City Attorney, propose review criteria that focus solely on form, not Constitutionally protected content.
