Normandy Park City Manager’s Report for week ending Dec. 20, 2024
Winter is Coming – Be Prepared
As the weather changes, we want to remind you to protect your house and yourself before cold weather hits. To help you prepare, here are some suggested informational tips:
- Buy your snow shovel now.
- Keep water and canned food on hand, just in case.
- Clean your gutters and downspouts now.
- Replace the filter in your furnace.
- Have your chimneys and wood stoves cleaned.
- Know the City’s snowplow route. If you click the link, you will see the City has divided the streets into three priority levels. Due to limited resources, in a heavy snow event, you can expect the First Priority Route to be maintained. The second Priority Route will be addressed as resources allow with priority over the third route. The third Priority Route will be managed as resources allow.

Transit changes are coming to south King County: Metro wants your feedback
As Link light rail extends south, King County Metro’s South Link Connections mobility project is working to improve public transportation for communities in south King County. You are invited to learn more about these proposed changes and take their survey by February 28.
In response to what Metro heard from community members in Algona, Auburn, Burien, Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, Normandy Park, Pacific, SeaTac, Tukwila, and parts of unincorporated King County, Metro is proposing several improvements to service and is seeking your input. Some of the proposed network highlights include:
- Adding new connections to future Link light rail stations.
- Investing in bus routes that operate all day, every day.
- New service on Saturdays and Sundays in Burien.
- Enhancing important east-west routes across the area.
- Removing some commuting routes between south King County and Downtown.
These proposals are part of a collaborative process that includes feedback from the community, Sound Transit, and other partners to develop proposed bus routes to meet residents’ priority transportation needs as new light rail stations open as early as 2026.
More details on specific proposed changes by area are available on the Metro South Link Connections website.
Metro has heard that residents want faster, all-day bus service that serves more areas, provides more weekend trips and improves east-west connections. Public input is vital as they prepare for the next steps in improving the transit network in South King County. So please take the survey or join one of their upcoming online open houses.
