King County Metro’s Marine Division conducted a “fit-up trip” aboard the Water Taxi Sally Fox on Saturday, March 1, 2025, testing the vessel’s systems, crew operations, and docking procedures as part of an evaluation for potential future service to the Des Moines Marina.
The trip, captured in a video shot and edited by Scott Schaefer below, highlights the vessel’s smooth journey from Pier 50 in downtown Seattle to the Des Moines Marina on a foggy morning full of “fogbows,” offering a glimpse of what expanded passenger ferry service could look like for South King County.
This latest voyage was a test and demonstration of the potential for an expanded fleet of foot ferries, including one that could serve Des Moines.
Could this be the first step toward expanded water taxi service in South King County?
