Normandy Park City Manager’s Report for week ending Aug. 29, 2025

Exciting Summer Improvements Around Normandy Park!

Every summer, the City of Normandy Park takes advantage of the summer weather to complete key improvement projects that keep our community safe, vibrant, and welcoming. These projects are part of the City’s ongoing commitment to maintaining high-quality public spaces, improving accessibility, and ensuring our infrastructure meets the needs of residents and visitors alike.

Here are some of the exciting upgrades happening this summer:

  • City Hall Park Enhancements – The basketball court is being replaced and parking expanded, creating even more space for pickup games, family fun, and community gatherings.
  • Improved Safety on 1st Avenue – A new guardrail has been installed to increase driver and neighborhood safety along this busy corridor.
  • Sidewalk Upgrades Across Town – Repairs and upgrades are making sidewalks smoother, safer, and more accessible for people of all ages and abilities.
  • Marine View Park Parking Lot Resurfacing – The resurfaced lot will improve accessibility and create a better experience for park visitors. Paving is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2nd through Friday, September 5th.  The park will remain open to foot traffic throughout construction, but onsite parking will not be available.
  • Street Resurfacing Projects – To keep our streets in top condition and extend their lifespan, crews are repaving several roads this summer, including:
    • Marine View Drive from Edgecliff to 197th
    • 4th Ave SW from SW 174th to the south end of the road
    • SW 174th St from 13th Ave SW to the west end of the road

Fun Fact: Resurfacing projects are selected from a prioritized list of pavement preservation projects. This ensures that we focus on streets with the highest need for repair.

We recognize that construction can sometimes cause temporary inconveniences, and we appreciate your patience as we complete these projects. Once finished, these improvements will make it easier, safer, and more enjoyable to get around our community—whether you’re driving, walking, or playing at the park.

These summer projects are more than construction—they’re investments in the future of Normandy Park. With safer streets, refreshed parks, and improved accessibility, we’re building a stronger, more connected community where residents can thrive. Thank you for being so patient during the work. We look forward to enjoying these improvements together.
