REMINDER: Historic Seattle band The Heats (aka The Heaters), will perform a FREE, all ages outdoor concert starting at 5 p.m. this Sunday, Aug. 23, at Marvista Park in Normandy Park.

The show, “An Evening with The Heats Outdoors,” is part of Normandy Park’s Music in the Park series and is presented by the Normandy Park Arts Commission.

The Heats were a major Seattle club and radio band from 1979 to 1983, helping shape the city’s original music scene before grunge. The Heats packed Northwest clubs, opened for The Kinks, toured nationally with Heart and The Knack, and sold thousands of records with songs including the iconic “I Don’t Like Your Face.”

Originally known as The Heaters, the band changed its name to The Heats after learning another band in California had already released an album under the earlier name, according to Green Monkey Records.

The current lineup includes co-founders Steve Pearson (songwriting, guitar, lead vocals), Keith Lilly (bass guitar) and Kenny Deans (drums), along with Jon Memolo (songwriting, guitar, lead vocals).
