On Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, the Seattle Southside Chamber, in partnership with the City of Normandy Park, announced the launch of CARES Relief for Small Businesses in the City of Normandy Park.

The funds originated from the Federal CARES Act and are distributed to cities through the State of Washington and King County. One of the eligible uses is the provision of economic support and grants to small businesses, which Normandy Park is awarding directly to business as part of a competitive grant process.

The application window is open now and closes at 4:00pm on October 2nd. The City hopes to award up to $5,000 each to approximately 12 businesses. The Southside Seattle Chamber of Commerce will serve as the contact and administrative agent for distribution of not more than $60,000 of CARES Act funds to local City of Normandy Park businesses for COVID-19 relief by no later than October 27, 2020. The funds will be retained by Evergreen Business Capital Community Finance for distribution per the direction of the Southside Seattle Chamber of Commerce.

“Until businesses are able to reopen fully, many still need cash support to continue operations,” said Andrea Reay, President/CEO of the Seattle Southside Chamber. “We are grateful that the City of Normandy Park is prioritizing additional assistance to put money in the pockets of our small businesses now when they need it the most.”

“The City of Normandy Park hopes to enable its small businesses to survive the COVID-19 pandemic,” Normandy Park City Manager Mark Hoppen said. “Our hope is that these funds can make difference to business owners in need.”
