The next Normandy Park City Council Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23, 2021, and will focus on the future of the city’s Recreation Center.

This meeting will run from 7 – 10 p.m., and will focus on the future of the Rec Center, which has been of concern to many residents recently (read our previous coverage here).

    • The meeting will be held online via Zoom starting at 7 p.m.
    • The agenda and meeting link be posted on the city’s website on Friday, Mar. 19.
    • Public comments will not be taken for this specially scheduled workshop meeting.

The City Council will use this special meeting to continue its discussion on the Rec Center, to provide direction to the Civic Center Project Committee, and to further direct the Committee to resume meetings to engage and refine the process of replacing our spent and near-spent facilities.

“The City Council listened at last Tuesday’s City Council public comment period to your thoughts, concerns, affirmations, and anxieties about the Recreation Center,” the city said. “Your elected officials all care about the influence of memories and friendships made at the Rec Center. We understand the Rec Center’s legacy of providing space for learning life skills and creating a sense of belonging, identity, and community.  We also hear misinformation about why the exhaustively-documented decision to demolish the existing building is occurring. Please read the material about the Rec Center on the homepage of the city website.”

The city adds:

“We know that Normandy Parkers want to engage in a clear understanding of the path forward, to know what comes next, and to see clearly how we will all continue to support and promote recreation for Normandy Park residents and families.

“Generations of Normandy Parkers share a rich history of banding together to build community. We can renovate The Park together and build a sustainable recreation future we can all enjoy!”
