Normandy Park City Manager’s Report for week ending April 7, 2023

Coffee with the Mayor

On Friday, April 14th, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, you can join Mayor Sue-Ann Hohimer and city staff at Empire Coffee at the Normandy Park Towne Center. This is an excellent opportunity for residents to meet with City representatives. In addition, we will also have guests from the Des Moines Activity Center available to answer questions and share more about their programs. We hope to see you there.

Planning Commission Public Hearing – April 20th

The Normandy Park Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 7:00 pm. This public hearing will allow residents to comment on a draft ordinance that will amend the City’s Code with the intent to help promote economic development in the city. The proposed code amendments focus on rehabilitating the retail and office leasing experience and use in the city’s commercial areas. The ordinance also will propose amendments to improve regulatory code clarity for the redevelopment of commercial, mixed-use, and multifamily residential zones through the use of specialized density tools.

Want to know more specifics about this issue? I recommend reviewing the staff report and draft ordinance, which can be found on the City’s website. If you have any questions, please contact Community Development Director Nicholas Matz.
