The Normandy Park Art Commission this week unveiled its new line up for the annual Music in the Park concert series, which starts Sunday, July 7 and continues weekly until Aug. 25, 2024.
Free concerts will start at 5 p.m. every Sunday in July and August at Marvista Park.
These concerts are open to the public and will feature live music, with Sound Technician Andrew Golden keeping all sounds smooth.
“We will be hosting a variety of guitar styles from the meantown blues of Nick Vigarino to the world renowned Cuban sounds of Kiki Valera!” organizers said.
BAT Theatre will be presenting their play “Fallen Angels” on July 21, followed by the beats of Chikiri who will be preforming Japanese Taiko drumming on July 28.
There will also be Tango with Ben Thomas, and bluegrass influenced Roosevelt Road starting off the month of August.
The Park has some room under the shade of trees, so as the months heat up, come cool off with music at Marvista Park.
At the end of August this year they will feature a jazz music finale featuring Jay Thomas’ RKO All Star Ensemble at 2:30 p.m. and Marina Albera and her piano driven Latin quintet at 5 p.m. This finale features 2 bands, so come and bring a picnic to enjoy on the last Sunday in August with an afternoon of music.
“Free Music Every Sunday afternoon!”
*A portion of Music in the Park is paid for by 4Culture grants
