Fire crews from King County Fire District #2 (KCFD #2), with assistance from Medic One, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, and Zone 3 Rehab, responded to a residential fire in Normandy Park at 12:57 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024.

The first fire unit arrived at 1:05 p.m. to find heavy flames on the back side of the home.

Crews quickly attacked the fire from the exterior before another team entered through the front door to extinguish the remaining flames.

Extensive overhaul efforts followed due to significant fire damage.

After an investigation, the fire was determined to be accidental, with the origin traced to the kitchen.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among residents or firefighters.

“The home was secured and turned back over to the family last night,” Ray Desmarais, Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal for KCFD #2 told South King Media. “Units did stay on scene over night to conduct ‘fire watch’ to ensure there were no additional hot spots.”
