Thanksgiving is a time for reflection, gratitude, and connection, and we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to all of you — our readers, contributors, advertisers, and supporters who make our work possible.
When we first launched The Normandy Park Blog 16 years ago, it began as a sister site of The B-Town (Burien) Blog to connect and inform the Normandy Park community. What we didn’t anticipate was how much it would grow into a network of eight thriving “hyperlocal” news sites serving communities across South King County. Today, South King Media has become a full-time family business — one that reflects the vibrant, diverse, and interesting people who call this area home.
Each story we publish — whether it’s breaking news, a community feature, an event announcement, or a local fundraiser — helps paint a picture of the communities we serve. Every click, comment, and share reminds us of the importance of independent, community-driven journalism and its vital role in keeping our neighborhoods connected.
- To our readers: Thank you for trusting us to bring you the professional, local journalism that matters most. We are committed to following the time-honored ethics of journalism as outlined by the Society of Professional Journalists and LION Publishers. Your engagement — whether through a kind note, constructive feedback, or simply sharing our stories — inspires everything we do. We are passionate about serving our communities,
- To our advertisers: Your belief in our mission and your support allow us to remain a sustainable, independent voice for South King County. We are grateful for your partnership and your investment in local journalism.
- To our contributors and team: Your hard work, creativity, and dedication to covering South King County’s unique stories with professionalism and compassion are what make this all possible. You are the backbone of South King Media.
This Thanksgiving, we are especially grateful for the sense of community that defines South King County. Whether it’s neighbors coming together to support a local cause, celebrating small businesses, or gathering for events that showcase shared values, these communities are truly like no other.
We also take this opportunity to honor the loved ones who are no longer with us. Their memories live on in the traditions, stories, and values that guide us and bring meaning to our lives.
As we gather with loved ones today, let’s all take a moment to appreciate the powerful ways we connect and support one another. These connections are what make our work so meaningful and what give South King County its heart and soul.
From our family to yours, thank you for being part of our journey. We wish you a happy, healthy, and peaceful Thanksgiving.
Warm regards,
Scott & Theresa Schaefer
