The second annual Normandy Park Polar Bear Plunge is set to take place on New Year’s Day on Wednesday,Jan. 1, 2025, at The Cove.

This family-friendly tradition invites participants of all ages to take a refreshing dip in the chilly waters, starting at 11 a.m. sharp.

The plunge is open to everyone, whether you’re planning a full dunk, a shoulder-deep wade, or just want to dip your toes and watch the fun.

Organizers promise the event will go on regardless of rain, snow, sleet or wind.

Participants are encouraged to come prepared for the brisk adventure. First-time plungers are advised to wear water shoes to protect their feet and bring cozy bathrobes, towels, or blankets for warming up afterward.

Local business Ionic Coffee will be on-site offering coffee, espresso drinks, and hot cocoa for purchase to keep attendees warm. A bake sale will also be held during the event, with proceeds benefiting Mary’s Place, a nonprofit supporting families experiencing homelessness.
