City Manager’s Report
For week ending Jan. 30, 2021

Meetings with Pramila Jayapal. Mayor Hohimer and I met twice on Friday, January 29, with Congressional Representative Pramila Jayapal.  The first meeting was about Sea-Tac Advisory Roundtable (StART) legislative objectives.  This legislative list was previously presented for comment to the Highline Forum, including local city legislators and other city officials.  Later in the day, Mayor Hohimer and I met for a second time with other jurisdictions, Rep. Jayapal, and her staff about additional relief for COVID-19 impacted local jurisdictions.  Rep. Jayapal opened the meeting and shared updates on the status of COVID-19 relief for local governments.  Each city provided an update and discussed priorities for approximately five minutes. Rep. Jayapal also discussed the likelihood of infrastructure support to local jurisdictions under the Biden Administration, which intersects with the City of Normandy Park’s capital goals for stormwater and for federally classified transportation corridors, such as main east/west neighborhood arterials, Marine View Drive, and 1st Avenue south of 174th. The Congresswoman stated that she had tested negative for COVID-19 on multiple occasions immediately prior to her experience in the Congress intrusion at which she is convinced she contracted COVID-19.  She is healing up and catching up.  The talking points for the first Port of Seattle-joint jurisdiction-Rep. Jayapal’s meeting is attached; Eric Schinfeld is the federal lobbyist who helped coordinate the meeting.
