Normandy Park City Manager’s Report for week ending Aug. 25, 2023

Safety Tips to Prepare for the Start of School

As summer ends, we know that it is that time of year again–back to school! We wanted to highlight some safety tips to keep everyone safe.

  • Watch for Children.
  • Obey School Zone speed limits.
  • Do not pass a bus loading children.
  • Never pass vehicles stopped at a crosswalk.
  • Pay attention to school crossing guards.
  • Eliminate distractions while driving.
  • Use designated student drop-off and pick-up zones.

And for you parents, to help you transition smoothly, Highline Public Schools has created a Back to School Checklist with nine things to do before school starts. These steps will ensure you’re prepared, excited and confident for the year ahead.

Stay safe out there!

Fun Events at Marvista Park this Sunday

If you are looking for some family fun this weekend, be sure to join us at Marvista Park.

Activities will start at 3:00pm with a Community Nature Art Workshop with the Botanical Alchemists. You can join the City of Normandy Park Arts Commission for a unique and inspiring Community Nature Art Workshop with the Botanical Alchemists! Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting out, this workshop is open to all skill levels. During the workshop, the Botanical Alchemists will guide you through various techniques, allowing you to create your own unique nature-inspired masterpiece. We’ll also work together to create community artwork. Remember, this starts at 3:00 pm this Sunday, August 27th.

While you are at the park, please enjoy the season finale of the Music in the Park concert series. And as a special treat, residents will be able to enjoy two performances on Sunday. This Sunday, August 27th at 3:00 pm, you can enjoy the musical performance of musical artist Marina Albero, a piano virtuoso.

Then, at 5:00 pm, you can enjoy a performance by Eric Ode, an award-winning children’s singer/songwriter, a widely published author and poet, and a thoroughly engaging entertainer. His upbeat, high-participation programs are bubbling over with fun, interactive music and include stories, skits, poetry, props, and puppets.

Bring your favorite blanket and chair and head to the park from 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm for all the summer entertainment with the family. We’ll see you there!
