Normandy Park City Manager’s Report for week ending Dec. 2, 2023
The Bond Vote on the New City Hall/Police Station Project moved to April 2024
The City continues to pursue the potential for a new City Hall & Police Station in an existing building on First Avenue. A vital part of this project will be the voter-approved bond needed to support the project.
As information, the City would like to issue a general obligation bond to fund most of this project. If the voters approve, a special levy will be issued on all properties in Normandy Park to pay the principal and interest for the debt. And remember, this type of debt can only be issued if the voters approve it. So, the City plans to present a ballot issue so you can vote yes or no in early 2024. We had discussed presenting this item as part of the Special Election scheduled for February 2024, but the City Council wants to give residents more time to learn about the ballot measure and provide some additional time to help finalize some of the project plans.
The City Council decided at its last meeting that the ballot measure asking residents to support this bond measure will be presented at the April 2024 Special Election. To learn more about the project, visit the City’s website. Stay tuned for more information about the project.
Winter is Coming – Be Prepared
As the weather changes, we want to remind you to protect your house and yourself before cold weather hits. To help you prepare, here are some suggested informational tips:
- Buy your snow shovel now.
- Keep water and canned food on hand, just in case.
- Clean your gutters and downspouts now.
- Replace the filter in your furnace.
- Have your chimneys and wood stoves cleaned.
- Know the City’s snowplow route.
If you click the link, you will see the City has divided the streets into three priority levels. Due to limited resources, in a heavy snow event, you can expect the First Priority Route to be maintained. The second Priority Route will be addressed as resources allow with priority over the third route. The third Priority Route will be managed as resources allow.
If you want more tips, google “winterize your house” for many more suggestions.
Normandy Park Book Locker will soon be Active
Have you visited City Hall this week? If you did, you may have seen the book locker that the King County Library System installed. It is not yet operational but should be shortly. Stay tuned for more updates, including the announcement of the official ribbon cutting.
